Karen Fusco
Artist Statement: Painting is my way of connecting with the places and emotions that move me most. Through acrylic paintings filled with rich, expressive color, I share the joy I feel in the presence of water, open landscapes, and vibrant environments—scenes meant to invite viewers to smile, pause, and feel a sense of delight. Blue waters, desert vistas, lively landscapes, and dynamic cityscapes allow me to explore the moods and memories that places evoke, blending the familiar with the dreamlike.
My work is deeply influenced by the landscapes that have shaped my life. Growing up on Long Island, New York, I developed a lasting connection to the sea and the restorative power of water. Now living in Henderson, Nevada, I am equally inspired by the desert’s wide skies, dramatic forms, and quiet intensity.
My creative process often begins with an image that suggests movement or an unexpected perspective. Roads, rivers, and winding paths frequently appear in my work, inviting viewers to wander. Guided by the expressive color and brushwork of the Impressionists, particularly Monet and Van Gogh, and shaped by early mentorship from Aida Whedon, my work reflects curiosity, appreciation, and a continual search for new perspectives.

Artwork Description: This painting began as a study in shades of green and grew into the most beautiful view of a stream running through a lush valley within the western view of Zion. The original has been sold and my family loves the image so much that I had a giclee print made and framed so we could continue to enjoy the scene. It hangs proudly in my home. EMAIL: unixgal@aol.com
