Bobbie Maxvill
Bobbie creates tile art using the Cuerda Seca technique, which she specializes in after starting her artistic journey in 2012. She enjoys designing functional pieces like trivets, wall hangings, and coasters, and has exhibited her work in various art shows. After drawing her tile design on paper she traces it onto a tile and then she is ready to create her art piece using the Cuerda Seca Technique. She uses this technique on all her tiles by applying black marking pen over each traced line. Then she fills in each space with glaze using her needle point tool. After the tile is glazed and completely dry, she fires it in a kiln. The black lines disappears during the firing process and the glaze changes its form, turning her tile into a beautiful glossy tile art piece.
“Penguin Family”
Artwork Description: The Penguin Family were the very first tiles I created after learning the Cuerda Seca technique in 2012. Penguins have long symbolized new beginnings for me. Despite the many challenges they face throughout their lives, they endure and adapt, embodying resilience and perseverance. This piece represents a personal "fresh start" —a reminder that even when we are dealing with our greatest challenges, perseverance and resilience are possible. Penguins are natures teachers of hope, patience, and purpose. EMAIL: bmaxvill@gmail.com

6” Terra Cotta Tile
Artwork Description: The combined representation of the sun and moon is a powerful symbol of a “fresh start”. The sun represents life and energy. The moon represents change and introspection. The combination symbolizes renewal, transformation and the opportunity to personally reset and be refreshed. EMAIL: bmaxvill@gmail.com
6” x 18” Terra Cotta Tile
Artwork Description: I researched the symbolism behind the giraffe. "Giraffe symbolism centers on gaining a higher perspective, foresight, and gentle confidence, often representing the ability to rise above challenges. As the tallest land animal, they symbolize long-term vision, intuition, and achieving seemingly impossible goals. Giraffes embody grace, quiet strength, and the unique, unapologetic expression of individuality. I have always felt a connection with the giraffe. Whenever I look at Laverne I remind myself to remember my goals and meet my challenges head on. Laverne says "Fresh Start". EMAIL: bmaxvill@gmail.com

“Jumping Orcas”
Artwork Description: I am drawn to the gracefulness of an orca coming out of the ocean. It is said that an orca is a spirit guide through major life transitions. They represent the ability to leave behind old fears, embrace a new, stronger and more connected chapters in life. I created my orca tile during a transition period, one of the many transition periods I have had in my life. The orca tile will continue to be a part of my private collection. When I see it I am reminded to give each new day a “fresh start”. EMAIL: bmaxvill@gmail.com
