May 2022 – LVAG Featured Artist – Bonnie Marie

Meet Bonnie ....

I usually begin with a drawing of ideas, then set my art in using shades of black, white and greys; only adding layers of colors after the basic painting is on canvas or paper, then I refine my art. I paint with many types of media; acrylics, water-based oils, watercolors, pensils, and of late have been using iridescent translucent media. I often embellish my work in digital format after adding them to my computer. This is where I learned over 30 years ago how to overlay my poetry over my art pieces.  I have come to appreciate the advanced form ART has taken with now being able to paint within the computer. I can use regular techniques and combine my art in layers and create entire new exciting paintings or paint from a blank canvas with digital painting programs. I find it so enjoyable to create my Art with many different media. My works are both traditional and mixed media Art.
I was showing and selling my work more seriously while living in Del Mar, California, where I had works in the Windson Gallery, Sawdust Festival in Laguna, Galleries in Solana Beach, La Jolla and San Diego area.
After moving back to the Las Vegas Valley in 2000, I continued to show in galleries here and in the Henderson Convention Center. I am showing now at the Boulder City Art Guild Gallery and the LVAG Gallery in the Galleria Mall as the Featured Artist from May 17th to July 9th 2022. I have received many Featured Artist Awards from Fine Art America contests and placed or won many art contests.

April Featured Artist: Franco Volpone

Hello everyone and Welcome to Artistry by Franco,

This is a short story about a man with a vision, a man with a purpose in life and most important about a man who loves to make others happy. In this short story you will meet none other than Franco Volpone the designer and the artist. Franco is now 60 years old, living in the beautiful city of Las Vegas in the great state of Nevada. As an incredibly young boy Franco soon discovered his love for art and so the story goes. Franco has been an extraordinarily successful high-end Custom Landscape Designer for over 37 years and is an avid artist with the love and passion for creating cool and unique works of art. His art is inspired by everyday life and the objects and people with in it. A lot of artists follow strict rules they learned from schools and teachers etc. Franco likes to create from the heart and what he is feeling   when he starts to paint. There are no rules to his work. It should make you feel good to look at it, and most of all give you a sense of well-being. Some artists create very dark and dreary work. Franco aims to uplift the spirit within you. When you see his work, you will see for yourself. There are literally thousands of artists in the world and all of them are unique in their own ways, Franco is no exception. We hope you like what you see, and can make a home for one or more of his beautiful works of art.

Thank you!

Lin Berger – Chapter 3 Bead Embroidery

Growing up in NYC, the first daughter of working parents, I spent my weekdays with my grandparents exploring parks, museums, shops, zoos, and playgrounds, traveling by bus and subway everywhere. I still can’t get enough of it and return often to visit my muses – Van Gogh and Monet.

My Manhattan grandma arrived at Ellis Island from eastern Europe to marry a man with big dreams and few skills. Grandma’s sewing talents were impeccable, and ultimately as a seamstress she raised and supported two daughters. When each daughter married, she rewarded herself with lovely elaborate treasures which she used to adorn herself. My years spent with her filled me with love for finer embroidery and gems, while teaching me the art of sewing. In my twenties I learned to make French wire beaded flowers, inspired by the swan-filled bouquet which graced a prominent spot in her home, and it now occupies such a place in my own home.

Forty-plus years and countless sewing and embroidery pieces later, I hung up my accountant’s shade and found my greatest pleasure in creating art using both beads and needles. I am inspired by my years as a gardener and nature’s bounty. When I left my beautiful, lush eastern gardens behind to move to Nevada, I promised to memorialize them in my next Chapter. You will find them in my Chapter 3 jewelry, tapestries, and accessories.

Artist’s Statement

Jewelry should enhance the wearer and bring joy in its beauty and comfort. Inspired by nature and life experiences, my art recreates and gives substance to my memories and imagination.
